Not ‘just’ a Theatre…

The Everyman Theatre strives to make the arts accessible to everyone.

Through our Education and Community work – including our vibrant youth theatre, Everyvoice choirs, community arts projects, artist development workshops, and creative health groups - we aim to foster resilient creative communities and improve quality of life in Gloucestershire.

Our mission is to deliver high-quality arts opportunities that have a positive social impact, bring together Gloucestershire’s talented performing arts workforce (whilst nurturing the next generation…) and break down barriers to arts and culture.

Community Impact Report

As you get older and you give up work, you lose quite a lot of friends and companions, and for me personally (through Goldenstep) I've met the most wonderful group. The Everyman has become like a second home in a way!

This is how performing arts education for 16-19 year olds should look.

We have had another fantastic term in our evening youth club sessions at The Rock, as through working with the Everyman our young people get a great opportunity to complete their Discover Arts Award. Cam made a great programme for the group with a wide variety of opportunities - Beatboxing with local rapper JPDL, Circus skills with touring stilts expert & drama skills. Its great seeing our young people giving new skills and talents a go.

Chris, Youth Worker at The Rock

Receiving a bursary for Youth Theatre has been life-changing for my daughter. As a teenage girl with autism, it’s the one place she feels free to be completely herself.

Emma, Youth Theatre parent

The Babes in Arms Choir project was absolutely amazing in so many ways, for the parents, the babies and also the audience of family and Aspire colleagues today. Your enthusiasm, welcoming and friendly nature, as well as the incredible talent that you bought, was truly wonderful. To watch the babies faces, to see the confidence grow in parents was just lovely. The group has been one of the highlights for me out of my 18 years with Aspire!

Shelley Thomas, Community Partnership Team Manager @ Aspire Trust:

Thank you so much for both sessions. It was such a joy to see some of my less confident participants getting involved in the drama sessions. It really showcased people's imaginations and helped to develop confidence. Everyone had a great laugh and would love to have more sessions. The samba session was great. Some of the members were really reluctant to get involved but before they knew it they were banging the drums and getting really into the session!

Clare Davis, Community Investment Officer, Chelt Borough Council:

I want to congratulate you (Stella) and the team on such a brilliant performance of Vanity yesterday. To deliver a production of that quality in such a short time is a real testament to your leadership and the talent you’re nurturing. The cast were fantastic and brought so much energy and heart to the stage. Ralph absolutely loved being part of it. He’s been full of excitement at home, not only about the performance itself but also about the friendships he’s made and the confidence he’s discovered in himself. It’s been wonderful to see how much this experience has inspired him.

Summer School parent/guardian

Trying something new in your 50s is hard, but adding in the challenges of depression, ADHD and autism I often experience crippling anxiety. Walking through the doors for my first session was huge for me as I was not in a good place…12 months on it’s the social side of the choir that’s really changed things for me. If you’d said last year, I’d be on stage singing with a choir I’d have not believed you. There is literally a place for EVERY voice in our choir.
